Most companies make two types of hoods; 1. spotlight which helps make fruits heavy down low on the plant up to four feet, 2. broad spectrum for a wide area for short plants up to two feet. Some hoods come with glass and some without. Glass allows you to run air through the hood to help keep the room at a cooler temperature. Hoods with glass coverings come with holes for 6 inch and 8 inch ducting. If you're going to run 2 hoods inline use 6 inch. If you are going to run 3 or more inline then you need to run the 8 inch. Without glass, an alternative to cooling would be to put a larger AC unit in the room.
